Poetry Appreciation

The author is thinking of the past memories where and when he fetched his child and how he feels towards Singapore's multi-racial country.Yes, it was almost the same, except that it wasn't malay chauffeurs this time. Instead it was maids who were chatting around each other.

My school badge has a lighted torch
which carries the meaning for every thought.

To me, it has no reason
to think about such an embarrassment.

I once had a foolish idea
that was to drink beer.

My father had bought a crate
but which i drank only a sip.

The Primary school years were over,
and too were the chilhood years.

Poet

I like Joshua Beckman. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He studied poems at Hampshire college, and since then he has written five books. His poems has a sense of irony, and he is also an editor of Wave Books, a poetry press. From the titles of his books, we can tell that he did not like to beat around the bush and always went straight to the point. I think he has quite a good sense of humour, and also can make the story turn right and left together, which creates the irony i previously mentioned. He is the now author of five books of poetry: Things Are Happening (1998); Something I Expected To Be Different (2001); Nice Hat. Thanks. (2002), written with Matthew Rohrer; Your Time Has Come (2004), and most recently, Shake (Wave Books, 2006).He also has numerous books of translation, including the forthcoming Five Meters of Poems by Carlos Oquendo de Amat, and Poker by Tomaž Šalamun (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2003) which was a finalist for the PEN Poetry in Translation Award.

Robot Wars & Battle Bots

During the holidays, my brother reminded me of a show called robot wars which was shown on the television last time.it is a competition where some people form a group to make their own robot to compete with other robots. Here is the video i love most, with the invincible "Gravity".
